"I'm Talking to a Cat I Can't Even See!"

September 23, 2013

...is a thing I once said in the direction of a nice man working his barbecue on his porch, unbeknownst to me. Hahaha. We had met with a lady earlier that morning while doorknocking, sweet as can be, who had asked us to pray for her cat. I told her we'd be on the lookout for "Lightning" the cat and so actively sought out said cat for the duration of our doorknocking that afternoon. Cue awkward moment that I shoud've seen coming.

Other than that, this week's been pretty good. Last Tuesday I traded spots for a day in a different companionship, and got to serve as a missionary on MSU campus! That was way great. I have fallen in love with MSU. Truly truly. I hear they lost this weekend but it's alright, I've become accustomed to BYU football over the years haha. While there we got to stop by a member's home who's been blind all his life... it was so interesting to watch how well he used the computer and things just by feel and sound! He could also read along with us in the Book of Mormon using this braille device. So cool.

Okay, we had half mission training this week as well and it was awwweeesommee. Elder Holland is such a straightforward speaker, I love how bold and honest he is about what he knows to be true. (We saw a video of him, not in person. He talked a lot about Simon Peter and Christ. It was great.) President Hess, my mission President, is a way powerful speaker as well! Some things I learned during training:
- Listen. You haven't learned anything while you're talking.
- Check out Alma 20:23 vs. Alma 22:12-15. The king changed from being willing to give up half his kingdom to save his life, to all of his kingdom to come closer to Christ. What changed? He was taught simple, powerful truths and the spirit testified of them so strongly! Never noticed that difference before but it's way neat.
- The importance of keeping every commandment, summed up in one equation:
5 (in virue) x 6 (in honesty) = 30... x 10 (in patience) = 300!... x 0 (in keeping the Sabbath Day Holy) = 0.
In other words, the times we slack on one commandment really does effect us! In order to fully receive the blessings we've been promised, we need to abide by our promises as well!

I hope you all have a wonderful week, and remember how great you are... because you are so great. Seriously. Give yourself a pat on the back today because you're awesome.

Muito amor,
Sister Kaegi
