"Mom... There are People at Our Door..."

September 16th, 2013

This was a way cool week. Not too many experiences to share in depth, but I learned a lot! Like on Wednesday, how I apparently need to re-introduce my shin to concrete every year or so... hahaha. But I got up and finished the third mile because that's what you do. (I've been running extra miles around the parking lot and it's the best idea I love it.)

The quote in the title this week comes from a door we were at one day... apparently their doorbell doesn't work so we were just standing there creepily until the little boy told his mom there were people waiting outside hahaha. Pretty funny moment.

So I never thought of myself as much of a teacher or leader, but being out here everyday and inviting others to come unto Christ multiple times a day has definitely helped me become more of one! I can feel myself explain and relate things better to people every day, and it's way neat to see. I especially love growing in this way because I genuinely love the people I teach -- I really get to know them and care for them. No matter how down in the dumps someone's feeling, they're still a child of God and deserve our attention and service.

The coolest thing I've seen this week is how people change when the spirit is introduced into their lives. It's both a gradual thing and something I've noticed in the spance of a single lesson. The Holy Ghost testifies of truth, and it's something I really appreciate. We can all know for ourselves, individually, that the church is true, that Jesus is the Christ and that our Heavenly Father loves us.

If you ever have any doubts or questions about these things, I invite you to do two things: first, act. You can't put the ball in the Lord's court and ask, "what are you gonna do about it?" Just like we can't rely on him to give answers to a test without studying, we need to our part and read the scriptures in search for an answer. And secondly (I suppose you could do this throughout also!), ask! Kneel in prayer and ask Heavenly Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, whatever questions you have! He will answer. It might not be in the time you want or expect, but it'll be in the time you need.

And to close it off, I just want to let you know how funny Brother Romney is. I've heard he's Mitt Romney's cousin or something, but this guy is hilarious. A constant quote book. For example, at a dinner appointment with some elders: "Make yourself at home, Elder P! What, you've got the metabolism of a 20 year old? Would you like some lard from our garage or something?" Hahaha. Maybe it's more funny in the moment but oh my goodness. Definitely gave my abs a workout that night.

Love you all. Do great things. Chin up!
